Mahogany is the great carving wood for small pieces (Dimensional stability, gouges cleanly, rasps to an edge, takes a nice polish). It is perfect for the wave forms I have have been chasing for the last few years ......but at the same time, I have been working on a series of simple forms with minimum entry.
