The Native American

I was killing time one cold winter after noon in the library leafing through a photograph book on Native Americans when I saw this face, I took the book home and made a clay mock up... Since then I have carved the face in 3 different woods in 3 different sizes and have cast the piece in fiberglass in 4 different sizes--I have made the face younger and older--I usually must do a face many times in clay be for I can carve it. Because this face has so much character it is fairly easy to do and of course this character adds to the enjoyment of the process. Figure work is not my main focus, but I do enjoy it and if one does only one thing there is a tenancy towards getting stale.
