Until that day there is PFLAG.


West Suburban Chicago PFLAG is a local affiliate of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, a grass-roots volunteer organization with nearly 400 chapters throughout the US and in other countries. Our parent organization, PFLAG NATIONAL, is based in Washington, D.C.


PFLAG HEALS FAMILIES


PFLAG maintains that knowledge and dialogue are the paths to understanding and acceptance of differences in sexual orientation within families. PFLAG helps families by providing information that heals.
  • Personal attention: 630-968-9060 is our Chapter information and support help line, 773-472-3079 is our regional help line, and feedback@allways.net is our email address.
  • Mutual Support: Monthly group meetings address problems in family relationships.
  • Literature: Written publications, and audio and video tapes, address issues facing our gay, lesbian, and bisexual loved ones.

PFLAG EDUCATES SOCIETY


Our society's myths and misconceptions about homosexuality are fueled by ignorance.

PFLAG combats ignorance with the truth about homosexuality by distributing information culled from the medical, religious, and scientific communities.

PFLAG is working to change society's attitudes toward gay and lesbian loved ones through:

  • The Respect All Youth Project: Directed at the prevention of gay and lesbian teen suicide.
  • The Newsletter: A monthly news publication distributed locally.
  • The Media: Interviews of PFLAG members on television, radio, and in print.
  • Speakers Bureau: Spreading the PFLAG message by speaking at schools, colleges, churches, and businesses.

PFLAG ADVOCATES EQUAL RIGHTS

  • We help our members speak out for social justice by providing direction, expertise, tools, and credibility.
  • We maintain an information base for use by members active in the political and social arenas.
  • We respond to relevant societal issues through press releases, press conferences, and letter-writing campaigns.

MEMBERSHIP


PFLAG/Suburban Chicago is a volunteer, non-profit organization. We depend upon the financial assistance and volunteer efforts of those seeking to help us fulfill our mission. Becoming a member of PFLAG today will help us continue to provide support, education and advocacy for gay, lesbian, and bisexual persons, their families, and friends.
